Preface
The following bibliographic tool includes resources published through fall 2024. The bibliography does not provide exhaustive coverage of all areas of Wesleyan and Methodist scholarship. This 7th edition presents a selected list of resources for students and instructors of seminary-level courses in United Methodist and Pan-Methodist history, doctrine, and polity. The resource also presents a minimum suggested standard for academic libraries to support such courses.
In addition to standard texts, past and present, emphasis has been placed on selecting contemporary critical interpretations in print and online. Following the format of earlier editions, the materials in this resource are arranged topically. For additional resources, including topics and materials not included in this edition, please consult Christopher J. Anderson’s 6th revised edition of United Methodist Studies: Basic Bibliographies.
The compilers are in debt to Kenneth E. Rowe for his work on earlier editions of the text. Any mistakes or omissions are solely the responsibility of the compilers.
